Winter Meltdown

The NASA Southeast schedule opened its 2007 season at Carolina Motorsport Park in Kirshaw, South Carolina. I had been to the track once during my driving schoold days and really like the high speed half of the course. Because of the open space it gives me the ability to practice my off road driving with out concrete getting in the way.

Saturday's race was pretty uneventful as I qualified poorly and the start was a little bit of a debacle but ended up having a good race with David Cullen.

Sunday's race was a little more exciting. Somehow I qualified 2nd behind Robert with a 1:56:544 out of eleven cars. The race was 60 minutes long and combined both the Lightning and Thunder race groups. My gameplan was to slot in behind Robert, hopefully learn some stuff, and with luck finish on the podium. The reality was much different as I successfully got the jump and tucked in behind Robert. Things were going fine until turn 4 when I carried a little too much speed and ended up loosing it on the outside of the carrousel watching the entire Spec E30 field drive by. Overall it was a good learning experience as I was able to drive back through the field and finish fifth overall.
